The Local Fam – this is Jo!

Jo, whose full name is Johanna Owen, holds a special place for The Local and Oli. The two met in London’s bar scene, and by being a part of London’s unique hosting culture, Jo even played a part in Oli’s decision to open The Local.

Fun fact: during the first week of the bar's opening, she happened to be visiting from London and ended up stepping in to help out.

But enough about that – let’s talk about Jo's wonderful art. She has developed a unique technique to bring her art to the canvas. Using only her hands, fingers, and occasionally a piece of wood, she layers color upon color until a one-of-a-kind work emerges. Often, her pieces feature dogs, for which she has a deep affection. For our coasters, she explored her second skill – sketching. Btw: on the left, you can see Jo’s dog, Tuna.
